Every planted palm tree costs us 500 euros

Enterprise “Macedonian Forests” paid around 500 euros per stem for the palm trees which will be planted around towns in Macedonia in the following days, i.e. a total of around 522,000 euros for 1,100 seedlings.

Palm trees of the type trachycarpus fortunei, i.e. hairy palm tree, which grows more than four meters, are planted in Ohrid,Prilep, Dojran and Vevchani, and it is planned palm trees to be planted in other cities in the country as well.

Palms were procured through Company for production, trade and services “Rosen Centar Ltd Export-Import” from village Strimnica, Zhelino.

The public announcement of these palms was announced last year, when the Public Enterprise asked “economic operator that will apply to submit a certificate of health of seedlings or certification for their condition, declaration and country of origin, as well as container offering the required dimension.”

When the ad for procurement of palm trees was announced, Zharko Karadzhoski, director of “Macedonian Forests”, said the cost of this type of palm trees ranges from 200 euros upwards and that they can survive a temperature of minus 15 degrees Celsius.

It is planned palm trees to be planted in Skopje, in the park Woman-fighter.

The capital got palm trees for the first time in 2010, when City Beach was opened and nearly 25,000 euros were paid about dozen palm trees.
