The Ukrainian authorities denied the claim that their country was providing arms to Hamas. On Monday (09.10.2023), the Ukrainian Military Intelligence Agency posted on its official Facebook page accusations that Russia launched a disinformation campaign related to these claims. We are fact-checking a post on the social network Facebook (screenshot here) stating the following:
America via Ukraine armed Hamas.
A large part of the arms that Senile Joe sent to Greeny nevertheless ended up in the hands of Hamas troops.
The Americans, whose priority is now Israel, are raging at Ukraine and redirecting military aid to Israel.
The Director of Congressional and Public Affairs at the Bureau of the State Department, Josh Paul, resigned over this to avoid public condemnation in Congress.
It seems that the corruption developed by the US in Ukraine to control and direct it against Russia turned against the Americans and their allies. They need not be concerned about our corruption – everything is under control!
After Hamas attacked Israel, unconfirmed information started circulating online that the arms Hamas has, were from the USA, and sent previously to Ukraine. For that purpose, videos were fabricated, abusing serious well-known media outlets such as BBC and Bellingcat.
In a statement given to the Associated Press, experts say there is no evidence of Hamas’ claim that Ukraine is giving them arms and that there is no reason for Ukraine to arm the militant group. These claims started spreading from Russian accounts on social networks.

Russia’s intelligence services are conducting a campaign of discredit Ukraine in the Middle East.
The aggressor state – Russia – uses Hamas terrorist attack on the State of Israel for a large-scale provocation against Ukraine.
The Chief Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine informs that the Russian side has already handed over to the terrorists of Hamas trophy weapons captured during combat in Ukraine, which was made in the United States and EU countries.
The next step, according to the plan of the Russians, should be fake accusations of the Ukrainian military of sale of Western weapons to terrorists on regular basis.
Within the framework of the Kremlin disinformation campaign, these fakes should be the basis of a number of “investigations” in the Western media.
For persuasion purposes, Russian Intelligence Services intend to use the relevant comments of a traitor from the Ukrainian Border Service, Senior Lieutenant Ruslan Syrovoy who recently escaped to Moscow.
Another enemy provocation is aimed at discrediting the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the complete suspension of military assistance to our country by the Western partners, states the post of the Chief Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, published on 9th of October this year.
Fact-checkers of Euronews write that, according to many weapons experts, there is no specific evidence to establish a link or relation between the military arsenal of Hamas and Ukraine.
Ukrainian officials have dismissed the rumors that the country’s weapons have somehow found their way into the hands of Hamas fighters, Euronews writes.
Regarding the part of the post saying that Josh Paul, an experienced high government official, Director of Congressional and Public Affairs at the Bureau of the State Department, had resigned because the military aid was directed towards Israel instead of Ukraine as an effort to avoid public condemnation, is not true. He resigned because Biden’s administration had sent arms to Israel – not connected with Ukraine in any way – without even mentioning Ukraine in his resignation letter. In the letter, Paul first stated that the attack of Hamas on Israel was the crime of all crimes.
But I believe to the core of my soul that the response Israel is taking, and with it the American support both for that response and for the status quo of the occupation, will only lead to more and deeper suffering for both the Israeli and the Palestinian people. This administration’s response – and much of Congress’s as well – is an impulsive reaction built on confirmation bias, political convenience, intellectual bankruptcy, and bureaucratic inertia, wrote Paul in his resignation letter.
As one can see from the resignation letter, Ukraine is not mentioned at all, but only the situation in Israel and Palestine, specifically the armament of Israel that Paul does not support, and consequently submitted his resignation letter.
The last false narrative in the post we are fact-checking is that ”the USA developed corruption in Ukraine to control and direct it towards Russia”. Russia attacked Ukraine unprovoked in February 2022. Ukraine was not encouraged by anyone – Ukraine just wanted to defend itself. Otherwise, the USA continues to support Ukraine in its counter-offensive, which can be seen from this summary analysis of the submission of arms for the Ukrainian counter-offensive in the last week.
On 20th of October, CNN published a detailed financial package presented by Biden’s administration of a $105 billion national security package that included military and humanitarian assistance for the conflicts in Ukraine and Israel.
The USA would also provide training, equipment, and weapons to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia’s invasion and to recapture its territory, as well as to protect Ukrainians from Russian aggression, published CNN about the financial package.
Due to the above-noted facts the post fact-checked is assessed as not true.
