The Ministry of Finance is preparing a draft bill for taxing motor vehicles. In the explanation that was published by ingle National Electronic Register of Regulations of the Republic of Macedonia, it is stated that with the new Law on excise the taxation of traveler vehicles is not a subject of interest by this law.
“Because it will be regulated by a new Law on taxation of motor vehicles. Taking into account the European practices and recommendations from foreign experts in this area, the Tax on motor vehicles apart from the value of the vehicles will be calculated on basis of the amount of the average emission of carbon dioxide – CO2 expressed in grams per kilometer” states the press release.
The Ministry also said that this will contribute to exporting and use of vehicles with a lower emission of carbon dioxide which means decreasing of air pollution and this will provide a more healthier living environment.
