Parliament has selected the transitional Government with Emil Dimitiriev as Prime Minister

The Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia with 71 votes “for” and 9 “abstained”, have elected a new transitional Government which will be lead by Prime Minister Emil Dimitriev.

All Ministers from the previous composition will remain Ministers in the transitional Government, including the Ministers which were proposed by the opposition, such as Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski and Minister for Labour and Social Welfare, Frosina Remenski who were present at the session.

Antonio Milososki said before the vote that while Ministers from the opposition did not sign the necessary oaths, their functions will be performed by the Prime Minister.

Ministers together with the new Prime Minister, Emil Dimitireiv were sworn in and gave their oath to office.

By choosing Prime Minister Dimitriev, his mandate as a Member of Parliament has been terminated.

Prime Minister Dimitirev said at the beginning of the session that the Government he will lead, will organize free and fair elections.

“To accept the role of Prime Minister is a great responsibility and a great honour. I want to thank Nikola Gruevski for his politics which did not allow the situation to escalate and allowed the state to get out of difficult situation. I thank him for his confidence in me to lead the transition Government. We all need to act wisely in the interest of our country and its citizens. As Prime Minister, I will perform this position responsibly, and elections will be organized by the Government, and will be fair and democratic”, said Prime Minister Dimitirev at the beginning of the session.

He urged the opposition to be constructive in their actions and that together they can do good things for the country.
