The Government terminated the agreement for the Ilovitza mine, announced today the government’s press service. The press release states that during yesterday’s session in Kumanovo a decision was passed to cancel the agreement for a concession on the location of Ilovitza in the municipality of Bosilovo.
The Government informed that the Concession Agreement for the exploitation of raw mineral materials- copper and gold at the Ilovitza location dated from 2014 and the Annex dated from 2015, are unilaterally terminated by the concession grantor since the concessioner hasn’t filed a request with a completed documentation for issuing an approval for exploitation of raw materials in a period of 4 years after the concession agreement was concluded.
“We are grateful that the Government has heard the citizens and their arguments, it recognized their truthfulness, worry and revolt in the fight to preserve the lives and the clean living environment, and has terminated the agreement for the Ilovitza mine. This is a crowning achievement of our long fight and is a successful example and a significant symbol od civic activism and resistance – said Gjorgji Tanushev of the civic association “Zdrava Kotlina”.
