“This is the first defeat of Gruevski. We will leave with muzzles and drums when he resigns” this was the comment of the campers in front of the Government to today’s decision for early parliamentary elections, which leaders of political parties VMRO-DPMNE, SDSM, DUI and DPA agreed along with EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn.
Both camps await the final decision which is to be adopted next week in Brussels and to finalize negotiations without euphoria, but with attention.
– The beginning is good, but in order for us to come to some conclusions, we must wait for the meeting in Brussels, to see what will be decided there. There is no chance to leave here before hearing the decision. If a transitional government that will organize early elections is not agreed, there is no chance for us to leave. There is no way one of the most corrupt people to re-organize elections. Without transitional government, we do not accept elections. This gives little hope that they can find a way out of the crisis. If they do not agree on a transitional government and Gruevski’s resignation, the people will initiate a revolution. Well, we do not sit in front of the Government for the same people to organize elections again – are the comments of those camping outside the Government.
While this decision is good for the one side, it’s a bad sign for the other. “Keepers of democracy” in front of the Assembly say that there shouldn’t be early elections, but that the people should wait for the regular elections and that technical or transitional government was never discussed.
– I do not agree to early parliamentary elections. I think that there should be regular elections when their time comes. Are we to arrange elections whenever SDSM desires. We disagree with this decision. Dialogue is always good and this crisis should be finally resolved. It’s good to have choices, but as means to organize this government. Technical government was never discussed nor would Prime Minister agree to negotiations if such a thing was discussed. Hahn came with a package of measures and I think a technical government is not part of them or the compromise that political parties need to reach – feel citizens at the camp across the Assembly.
