In a statement sent to the media late yesterday after the meeting with political leaders in Skopje, EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn emphasized that the commitments given by the parties today and in the future should be implemented in a spirit of trust.

“A number of concrete measures have been discussed and agreed to face the challenges which are upon the country. A number of items need to be further elaborated and agreed in the coming days and, in that respect, the commissioner requested talks with the leaders to resume immediately,” reads the statement from the office of Hahn.

Hahn assessed the negotiations as constructive and said all sides have promised to put the interests of citizens of all communities in the first place. They reiterated their commitment to Euro-Atlantic process and democratic principles, strengthening of inter-ethnic relations and improving good neighborly relations.
