Ivanov avoided reporters and announced that he requests rationality and responsibility

-

President Ivanov, in a statement from his office, expressed full support for fast, efficient and transparent handling of all competent authorities in determining the existence of activities contrary to the constitutional and legal order and sanctioning the perpetrators of crimes.

Ivanov, however, avoided answering journalists’ questions at today’s meeting with the Chief of Staff of the Republic of Macedonia, Gorancho Koteski.

In the Army House, where Koteski had to explain the security situation in the country, the journalists were not allowed to raise the question, although they insisted.

On the protocol, they were told that the meeting is not public and that can only make photos and video footage.

Ivanov was expected to answer questions related to his jurisdiction in the scandal of tapping more than 20,000 citizens.

“I call on the political parties in the country to act reasonably and responsibly in accordance with the interests of citizens and the state. Only in this way they will prove that their program commitments are in the interest of democracy in the Republic of Macedonia. We have to show maturity in the face of the challenges that arise in society, and they must be resolved by institutional means. The role of media in a democratic society is to point out everything that violates the democratic process and is against the interests of citizens and the state. In exercising this role, they have my full support,” reads the statement from the office of the President.
