Former director the Administration for Security and Counterintelligence Zoran Verushevski received a prison sentence of three years for illegal possession of weapons.
“Considering the facts and evidence submitted by the Public Prosecution and the defense in the case, as well as a detailed analysis of the closing arguments of the parties, the trial court, after counseling and voting, reach a judgment with which the defendant Z.V. is found guilty for the crime he is accused of and in accordance with aggravated and mitigating circumstances, as well as the Rulebook for determining penalties in force, handed down a sentence of three years”, it is stated in a statement from basic Court Skopje 1.
Verushevski, who was arrested on January 23, spent more than six months in custody and will remain in custody until the judgment becomes final.
He, as the first person convicted in the case “putch”, is charged with unauthorized eavesdropping, spying and coup d’etat, and on August 5 will have the first court hearing in the case.
