The main topic this morning in Germany is Greek Finance Minister Yannis Varoufakis, who showed his middle finger to the Germans during the festival “Subverzive” in Zagreb.
Yesterday evening, Varoufakis had his first appearance on a German TV in the popular show of the host Guenther Jauh on “ARD.” The climax of the show was when Jauh released footage of May 2013, on which Varoufakis on the festival in Zagreb, in front of a numerous audience, said: “Greece in January 2010 just had to announce that it is not able to meet its obligations in euros, as Argentina did, and show the middle finger to Germany (here he held up his left hand and showed the middle finger) and to say ‘Now you can solve your problem.'”
Visibly agitated Varoufakis challenged the authenticity of the video.
– The video is fake. I didn’t show a finger, the finger is added. I am assuring you of that, believe me – said Varoufakis.
German media “Bild”, “Spiegel”, “Focus” and others immediately called experts for video editing and they are unanimous that the video is authentic.
