Tsipras with package of measures for neighborliness with Macedonia

The Greek government is considering a new diplomatic initiative to Macedonia. It seems that Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kodzias is planning to propose the Macedonian government a package of measures to build confidence between the two countries, which, according to initial information, generally would be focused on coping with irredentism, which Greece considers to be implemented very strongly by the government in Skopje.
Information on Kodzias’ attempt to fight with irredentist tendencies of the Macedonian government were reported by all relevant Greek media, “Kathimerini”, “To Vima”, “Ethnos”, citing top sources in the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Few days ago, Kodzias said that, in his view, the key issue between the two countries not dispute, but irredentism of the Macedonian side and expressed the view that it is unfair to perform pressure on Greece over the name when the culprit is on a completely different address.
According Kodzias, irredentism only aggravates misunderstanding that exists because of the name, due to which, he appealed to the Macedonian government to wake up and stop this behavior in order the situation between the two countries to move in a positive direction. It seems that Kodzias, with diplomatic initiative for measures for building trust, will try to “cure” the problem and tendencies for which he believes they exist in the Macedonian government. The newspaper “To Vima” reports that the measures on which Kodzias is thinking are related to books, maps and other things. However, it seems that the measures are still under development and evaluations of the Greek Foreign Ministry are that there should be a detailed discussion and detailed analysis of things before they send a final package and initiative to the Macedonian side.
