Last year, the poverty rate in North Macedonia was 21.6% i.e. it declined by 0.3% compared to 2018, show the data provided by the State Statistical Office. Despite the poverty rate’s continuous decline during 2019, 448 100 persons in Macedonia had been living below the threshold of poverty. 41.7% of the unemployed in the country were part of the poverty group, but also 32.9% of other inactive persons.
