Shekerinska: Ivanov’s silence is expected and shameful

-

“Ivanov’s silence is expected and shameful silence Ivanov,” says vice president of SDSM Radmila Shekerinska to the question of how she interprets the behavior of the President of the country regarding the wiretapping scandals and the political crisis that resulted from them.

– Judging by the way in which he was elected, the way he practiced his function in the past five years, we didn’t expect anything more. But in a situation where Macedonia is in a serious crisis, even we are really shocked that he continues to be just a silent witness. The government came out with a series of ridiculous lies, and he didn’t gather the strength to summon any Security Council while his colleagues argue that foreign services were working here. It indicates that Ivanov did not believe Gruevski’s lies – Shekerinska said.

According to Vice President of SDSM, the statement of former prosecutor Ljupcho Shvrgovski for “Deutsche Welle” shows two things: that the recordings are authentic and that the government treated and considered judiciary and the prosecution as its extension.

– He is one of the closest to the people around Gruevski, who confirmed that the recordings are authentic and he himself, with his statement, confirmed that nobody created nether mounted the conversations. At the same time, he proved how the government considered judiciary and prosecution. It is a violation of basic constitutional principles. It shows us why in all these years, the court has never encouraged to file criminal charges against any of the government. Shvrgovski statements denied Gruevski and his associates for all the lies spread by these days – says Shekerinska.

She says blank bills of exchange of MPs from VMRO-DPMNE may be the reason why the Assembly is silent about the current crisis and the wiretapping scandal.

– What is this Assembly that can control the government if people in the government hold bills or written resignations? I think that now it would be hard for the prime minister to argue that there is no direct control over the destinies of their MPs. Perhaps that is why the Assembly is still silent to these scandalous revelations, showing that Macedonia is an occupied country or abducted by a few people in power – says Shekerinska.

She would not comment on the inclusion of international teams in the process of resolving the crisis, which, as noted, was still in its infancy.

Shekerinska, in response to a reporter’s question, repeated SDSM’s opinion in terms of international experts who would supervise the legislative process of the cases “Puch” and “Wiretapping”. She says the first step “to having a basically decent procedure” is the current Public Prosecutor Marko Zvrlevski to resign, and the same, according to her, should be also done the Head of the Department for Organized Crime Jovo Ilievski.

– After these two resignations, the prosecution has a chance to get rid of the pressure and, in that case, international supervision, but a serious one, with a clear mandate, will be a plus – Shekerinska said.
