Sasho Mijalkov sentenced to 3 years in prison, Menduh Tachi sentenced to 3 years and 2 months

Today, six people received prison sentences from the court in the “Titanic 2” case, conducted by the Special Prosecutor’s Office for election irregularities during the 2013 local elections.

The longest punishment, four and a half years, was handed to the former member of the State Election Commission, Bedredin Ibraimi. President of the Democratic Party of Albanians, Menduh Thaci was sentenced to three years and two months in prison, while former Director of Security and Counterintelligence, Sasho Mijalkov, was sentenced to three years in prison.

Former SEC members, Saso Srcev, Aneta Stefanovska and Vlatko Sajkovski, also received three years in prison.

Everyone was convicted for the offense of abuse of office, except Sasho Mijalkov, who was convicted of receiving a reward for illegal influence.

Prosecutor Fatime Fetai asked that Sasho Mijalkov and Bedredin Ibraimi be remanded into custody due to flight risks. For other convicted, the prosecutor asked that precautionary measures be taken.
