Electronic charge cards for riding the public transit system are available from today

-

Starting yesterday, users of the Skopje public transit can use electronic tickets to pay for the fare.

Skopje’s mayor Koce Trajanovski and the director of the public transit company (JPS) Igor Janushev, visited today the offices of JSP Turs where is located one of the eight offices where the electronic cards can be obtained.

– Besides the use of the new payment system in JSP busses, users of the public transit system can use the old paper-card system until December 31. We believe that the new system will improve the functioning of the transit service, contributing to better organization, increasing of the speed and the quality- said Trajanovski.
According to the director of JSP, Janushes, the process of obtaining personal electronic cards called “moja skopska” is fairly quick, lasting no more than two minutes.

– It is very quick. The person who is obtaining the card gets his picture taken and the card is made on the spot. There will be eight locations in Skopje, of which six begin functioning this Monday and Tuesday. The new system will have two cards- one is personalized and can be used by a single user, while the other is transferable and without a photo and it is called “skopska”- said Janushev.

Besides the the electronic charge system, the JSP implemented tracking system for its buses, which would allow the company to locate and monitor each bus, anywhere in the city.

The project for implementing the tracking option and the electronic charge is financed by the City of Skopje and will cost about 3 million euro.
