The building at the old barracks in Bitola, where the local government developed the Film City Bitola project, will be demolished, announced today the opposition in Bitola. This project was prominently promoted by mayor Vladimir Taleski during his first term.
The opposition in Bitola demands to know how much taxpayer money will be thrown away, calling upon previous announcements by mayor Taleski that the project will cost 1.6 million euro.
– This project was announced as part of the urban development of the old barracks. According to the available information, the film development project is dismantled because it wasn’t placed within limits of the original urban plan. The location was intended for a road. Is that true? If it is, then how was such an error possible? There must be someone accountable for this. Taleski and the person who made the error should return the money of Bitolans back to the budget- said Blagojce Kotevski, advisor of SDSM in the Municipality of Bitola. He added that the dismantling of the film city in Bitola is another evidence for the ending of the “movies by Gruevski and his accomplices.”
More than a year ago mayor Taleski and a group from the municipality announced that the old barracks will become, as they said, “a small film city.”
– Although on first sight it looks like we are in the old Bitola bazaar, this is actually the film city- said then Taleski, holding up drawings of the urban blueprints of the barracks lot.
