Over 6000 amendments filed for changes in the Election Code for a single electoral unit and open lists

For the proposed changes in the Election Code over 6000 amendments were filed.

The amendments were filed by 15 MPs of minor parties that propose a single electoral unit and open lists.

During today’s parliamentary session two draft laws and amendments of the Electoral Code were proposed. The first draft law predicts a change of the electoral model from 6 electoral units into one electoral unit with 120 elected MPs while the second draft law refers tot he local elections and the introduction of open lists for selecting advisers.

The second proposal also plans a change of the gender quota of 40% with an equal number of men and women on the lists for parliamentary and local elections.
