Central Committee of VMRO-DPMNE on Saturday held a meeting at which, according to the party statement, considered the current political situation in the country and gave full and unconditional support to the party president and Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski.
“The Central Committee of VMRO-DPMNE, in accordance with its statute and continuity to which it refers, regarding the core of the actions of historical VMRO, emphasized that our party has historical responsibilityto fight these destructive moves that have an aim against the national and state interests of the Republic of Macedonia. Without a doubt, Central Committee of VMRO-DPMNE refers clear message to all that will not allow foreign implementation scenarios, destabilization of the state and violent takeover, contrary to the will of the majority of citizens. It is time all those who wanted to bring the state in such scenarios to quit“, reads the statement.
Party appeals to all members and supporters not to be fooled by the provocations, and elected officials to continue working in the interests of citizens and to create new projects.
“Central Committee of VMRO-DPMNE urges all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia to join this fight to preserve the dignity , stability, democracy and economic development of our country. Central Committee of VMRO-DPMNE calls and invites all competent state institutions to professionally, responsibly and effectively investigate and resolve all doubts and questions related to the current situation in the country,” reads the statement.
According to analyst Peter Arsovski, with this statement, VMRO-DPMNE wants to turn to its members. He says that rhetoric is not preparing for a civil war, but preparing for an escalation of the situation in political terms.
– This press release is intended for members of the party. It recommends them to be calm and patient and not take unpredictable actions. It also tells them that the situation is not exactly what it seems. I do not think this is any call for war, but for increased caution in the following period – says Arsovski.
Analyst Vladimir Bozinovski, however, argues that the statement is aimed at previously published that foreign services, supported by domestic actors, worked on the destruction of the country.
– This statement is in line with the situation in which it was confirmed that foreign authorities bugged Macedonia. There is no other goal – says Bozhinovski.
The last time there was such rhetoric (at times stronger) in the addressing of Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski was in a letter to the public from 19th of November 2009.
“It is time to start the final battle with the rest of the transition and its politicians. It is time for the final battle with the politicians, who left behind devastation and misery and that brought in our country despondency, crime, lies and distorted values. It is time to stop their attempts to re-take Macedonian citizens and our country as hostages. In previous political cycles they were defeated, but they didn’t disappear,” wrote Gruevski at the time.
