MVR: 826 migrants entered Macedonia in the past 24 hours

In the past 24 hours, starting from 8 o’clock in the morning, the authorities have given temporary stay permits to 826 foreign nationals, of which 649 men, 152 women, 163 children who are accompanied by the permit holder, and 25 children traveling without a parent, who are receiving a permit which allows them to request exile, reports the Ministry of Interior (MVR).

Most numerous are Syrian citizens- 737, Iraqis- 42, Afghans- 12, Bangladeshi- 6, with fewer nationals of other countries. “During the day we haven’t had any serious incidents, although from the Greek side of the border, where there is no control whatsoever, migrants are pressing to enter this country,” says in an announcement by the MVR.

According to data collected by MVR, thus far there are 49 requests for exile of which Syrians account for 36, ten of which are for children; there are three requests from Pakistan and Afghanistan each, of which four are for children accompanied by a parent; there are two requests from Morocco, Algeria and Iraq (one for a child) and a single request from Egypt.

The announcement states that yesterday until 19:00 o’clock, mobile crews of the Red Cross had given first aid to about 80 people on the crossings at the Serbian and Greek borders. They have distributed 700 bottles of water, 120 food packets, 50 individual hygienic packets, 50 first aid packets, 80 diapers, 60 blankets and 20 baby packets.
