Public warnings for Samak and Jeftimov for conflict of interests

A conflict of interests was found for the Minister Vele Samak, confirmed State Commission for Prevention of Corruption.

In his capacity as minister without portfolio in the Government, he signed a contract with a legal person “Markart Macedonia” Ltd. – Skopje, and in which, on the basis of the contract of employment, his wife is an employee.

Acting in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interests, and in order to remove the findings on the conflict of interests, the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption in the sense of Article 23, paragraph 1 of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interests, addressed Samak with a requirement to take steps to eliminate the identified violations of the provisions of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interests, i.e. voluntarily remove the situation of conflict of interests, within 15 days from the date of receipt of the requirement.

Vele Samak has not acted on the request of the State Commission, therefore, in terms of Article 23, paragraph 3 of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interests, the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption has decided to impose a reprimand. In accordance with Article 25, paragraph 2 of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interests, measure public notice is published in the media.

State Commission for Prevention of Corruption, acting on cases from the area of conflict of interests, found state of conflict of interests in Jozhe Jeftimov for accumulation of functions: simultaneously with the office of the Council of the Municipality of Cheshinovo-Obleshevo, he also holds the position manager of a company – Company for production, trade and services “Kik Prom” Ltd. import – export Cheshinovo, which is contrary to the provisions of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interests.

Acting in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interests, and in order to remove the findings on the conflict of interest, the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption in the sense of Article 23, paragraph 1 of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of interests, addressed Jozhe Jeftimov with the requirement to voluntarily give up the execution of one of the two functions simultaneously running, which will overcome the situation of conflict of interests, within 15 days from the date of receipt of the requirement.
Jozhe Jeftimov didn’t act on the request of the State Commission, therefore, in terms of Article 23, paragraph 3 of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interests, the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption decided to impose a reprimand for him as well.
