Health Fund approves treatment abroad for little Hanita Saliu

-

The Fund for Health Insurance approved funds for Hanita Saliu to have treatment abroad. Hanita has the same diagnosis as little Tamara Dimovska from Veles who died last year.
Little Hanita appeared in public on February 9 in protest at the anniversary of the death of Tamara. The girl’s father Sadula Saliu, at the time said he had sought help from the state, but were refused on the grounds that her defect was inherited.

“The case of Hanita is the same Tamara’s. She has a curvature of the vertebrae and if this year she does not get help, a wheelchair will be the next step for her. So far, we have been to Ankara four times and we paid for everything. We no longer have the power or strength. The operation, as far as I know, costs 20,000 euros. We sen requests to the Fund, but we have been refused twice”, said Saliu.

After the protest , the Fund for Health Insurance expressly reacted, in a statement said they would take action, and they confirmed they had no consultative opinion from an appropriate Macedonian health clinic and there had been no request for medical treatment abroad. Then the Fund said that, if they were to apply for treatment abroad, the Fund within its legal framework will make a decision on the case.
