Even with an expired deadline the government still doesn’t have any solution for the Illovica mine

-

The deadline until which the government was supposed to state its opinion regarding Euromax Resources’ appeal to government’s abolishment of the concession for the Ilovica Mined expired yesterday. The company, as a concessioner of the Ilovica mine for gold and copper, has lodged an appeal against the government’s decision not to grant an approval for the concession of the Illovica mine after it was determined that the company hasn’t filed all of the necessary documents for exploitation in accordance with the Law on mineral raw materials.

Despite the expiration of the legally determined 60 days for the appeal, a deadline during which the State Commission had to provide its explanation, so far there is no information upon the future of the Illovica mine, even though the general public and especially the local population from the villages nearby are waiting impatiently for the government’s decision.

The citizens of the villages in the area of Strumiza, Shtuka and Ilovica, in whose yards this mine was supposed to start working, in June were protesting in front of the mine, by blocking the access for the company’s employees and sending a request for an urgent cancelation of the concession to Euromax Resources.
