During UN’s General Assembly, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev has met with the Greek Prime Minister Kyryakos Mitsotakis.

Zaev has informed Mitsotakis about the efforts for strengthening the implementation of the current reforms in order to open space for starting of the EU accession negotiations for which a positive decision is expected in October.

“Zaev has stressed that the Government is ready to implement completely the Action plan for intensifying and enriching the collaboration with Greece as is planned with the Prespa Agreement, for which he stressed that is a historical step forward and a significant agreement for building good neighborly relations, cooperation and constructive and positive relations between both countries.
The Greek Prime Minister expressed his support for the start of the negotiations with the EU and was stressed that the thorough and timely implementation of the Prespa Agreement is key for the promotion of the relations and the securing of North Macedonia’s European Perspective” informs the government.

According to Kathimerini, Mitsotakis has told Zaev that he would have never signed the Prespa Agreement but he will obey it since it was ratified at the Greek Parliament and only obligations have come out of it.
