“Coffee in Thessaloniki”- New project between Macedonian and Greek railways

-

Macedonian Railways – Transport is negotiating with the Greek railway company “TrainOSE” for introducing new departures from Skopje to Thessaloniki, to tourist centres in Leptokaria and Neoi Poroi, as well as a direct connection from Skopje to Istanbul.

The “Coffee in Thessaloniki” project will provide daily railway connections between Skopje and Macedonia’s favorite shopping destination. MZ-Transport say that in the summer months, this train will travel to Neoi Poroi, and in cooperation with travel agencies will transport groups to several coastal destinations in the north of Greece via our railroad.

According to MZ-Transport, talks are underway for introducing connections to the Bitola-Lerin train along the railway which was completely reconstructed at the end of last year. Local cross-border trains are also expected to travel to Serbia, which is being negotiated with the local state railways.

“The local Skopje-Tabanovci train, will connect with the local Presevo-Nish train. This way, passengers can travel with already existing trains and will not have to pay any additional costs,” MZ-Transport told “Meta”.

If negotiations with “Serbia Train” are successful, the express train “Hellas Express” to Belgrade and Thessaloniki will last for a longer period of time, and not only in the period from June 15 to September 16.

Macedonian Railways – Transport informs that first stage talks with Turkish Railways were held for a possible introduction of a direct Skopje – Thessaloniki – Istanbul express train.

According to the current timetable, international rail traffic currently operates in Kosovo only with the high speed train that runs daily on the Skopje-Pristina-Skopje route.
