The Ministry of Transportation and Communications is preparing a tender for the introduction of an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) at Corridor 10’s highway. The forthcoming snap parliamentary elections will not influence this project so the call will be announced by mid-year, informs the ministry.
The future communication-information system for controlling and managing the traffic includes cameras for video surveillance, weather stations, electronic signalization and SOS telephones on the highway from Tabanovce to Gevgelija. The whole equipment will be connected to Control centers where they will be monitoring the weather conditions on the highway and the traffic for 24h.
This system is expected to be operational by 2022, which will contribute to the increase of the traffic’s safety. Its implementation will cost 18.6 million euros.
