The President of SDSM Zoran Zaev said the party would try to work out a change of the electoral system in the next two weeks. It will give a chance to smaller parties to participate in elections.
“We put the proposal on the table and we hope that the other political parties, international community, and civil society organizations will keep it alive. These are the days of the opening of the electoral legislation, and the proposal belongs here. The deadline for defining the electoral legislation is at the end of the month, or the latest early next month. This chapter must be closed. We appeal to the public for everyone to express their views on working groups, aimed at the democratization of our society”, said Zaev during his visit to Bitola.
According to the leader of the opposition, this will open the possibility for smaller political parties to enter Parliament which will affect the democratization of the Parliament, and the democratization of the leadership.
