The footage with the last interview of Mihajlov caused numerous negative reactions with a demand to remove the wax figure of Vancho Mihajlov from the newly opened Museum in Shtip. The controversial character, whose figure is alongside those of Goce Delchev and Dame Gruev at the Museum of VMRO in Stip, in an interview in Bulgarian regrets that the Bulgarian idea is not dominant in Macedonia, and, as he says, “he therefore loses sleep”.
In the interview, when asked if regrets about something in life, Vancho Mihajlov said:
– All of us who have failed to ensure the presence of the Bulgarian idea Macedonia have some regrets. I cannot even sleep when I think of it. Bulgaria fought wars and gave numerous victims, but we still got to this point – said Vancho Mihajlov in his latest interview.
His figure has to be urgently removed, or, in his dictionary, to be liquidated, writes one Shtip citizen at the social networks. Another recommends not to praise him, “but to let the Bulgarians make wax figures of him.” One more Shtip citizen, a historian by profession, entered the discussion, and he reminded that this period of history is complex.
“Don’t get me wrong, that I praise Mihajlov. However, the public is one thing, and the science is another. Well, now, our historians are such! It wouldn’t surprise me if tomorrow they raise a monument of Xhemo Hasa and say that he is part of our history,” wrote the historian.
