The two major political parties say they are both happy with the outcome and agreement reached yesterday regarding the choice of the Special Public Prosecutor, say sources within the parties.
SDSM are especially pleased because the prosecutor requested and received a prosecution, but expect obstructions in action and procedures.
VMRO-DPMNE, meanwhile, say they are also satisfied and that finally this will enter into an official framework and will end all speculation and lies that had been spread over the past few months.
The proposal for the prosecutor today has to be voted in Parliament, and in the evening they will choose who will be in the Council of Public Prosecutors. According to estimates, the new prosecutor should be able to begin work in approximately ten days.
The special prosecutor will have a period of 18 months to take over cases and then to indict.
Cases that are already being processed by the Prosecutor’s Office will be taken over by the new Special Prosecutor.
The political parties have said in order for proper coordination, it was agreed upon at a plenary session that there is to be a speaker available from a each political party.
