Government to resign, and the police to choose a side, requested citizens

-

Several hundred people protested today in front of the Government, where they expressed their anger of what they always knew or felt, but received proof yesterday and days before after opposition leader Zoran Zaev published the recordings.

At the protest, which lasted more than two hours, the gathered citizens raised their arms high, referring to the Nazi salute, and shouting “Killers” and “Sadists”, they demanded the resignation of the Government, while the speakers played parts of the audio recordings of intercepted conversations.

At the same time during the protest, from the other side of the safety fence, police officers in civilian clothes recorded gathered citizens.

The protest was attended by figures of social and cultural life of the country, who came to express their indignation and abhorrence of the attitude of the people from the recordings and their toying with human lives.

– We are shocked and concerned by what we heard yesterday, of how they are toying with human lives. They force us to seek asylum in another country – said actress Silvija Stojanovska.

Activist Petrit Sarachini asked the police officers who were there on whose side they are on, reminding them that when they gave an oath, pledging the Constitution, which in Article 2 states that sovereignty comes from the citizens and belongs to them.

– In a very short period, you will have to choose whose side are you on. Are you on the side of the sadists or the citizens – said Sarachini.

Shortly after the start of the protest, the crowd threw apples towards the government and broke a lamp, prompting the present police officers to enhance equipment and put on body armor, but it was short, after which the protest continued in a calm and dignified atmosphere.

On the protective fence in front of the Government were posted sheets of paper inscribed with slogans “Freedom for Ljube” and “Freedom for Macedonia”, and some of the participants wore T-shirts with the same slogans.

Before the end of the gathering, one of the songs played was the composition of the Macedonian alternative rock band “Verka” titled “Black dance” as a parable for the dance which, as the present citizens pointed out, would be led by Interior Minister Gordana Jankulovska.
