On Wednesday, at 11 am, Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kancheska-Milevska and academician Vera Bitrakova-Grozdanova will open “Golden Room” in Ohrid, confirmed the Director of the Institute and Museum in Ohrid, Tanja Paskali Buntasheska, for META. She says that the luxurious catalog is already printed, while the space was adapted a while ago, in the famous structure and most beautiful example of the old Ohrid urban architecture – the House of Robevci.
In the exclusive setting, one of the most precious in Macedonia, will dominate the Golden Mask, found near Gorna porta in the old part of Ohrid, one of the most precious museum exhibits in Macedonia.
The project is funded by the Institute and Museum in Ohrid and the Ministry of Culture. As originally announced, it will include around 400 precious antiques, above all the Golden mask, as well as many other gold, silver and gilded items found during excavations in Ohrid, as well as at the archaeological sites Trebenishta and Deboj.
Shortly before the event, the question whether the old announcements remain or there is a change in terms of the Golden Mask not be a part of the collection in the “Golden Room” remains open. This was actualized by the Director of the Archaeological Museum of Macedonia in Skopje, Vesela Chestoeva, with a statement made for Ohrid “Super Radio” that “the exhibition of the Golden Mask of Ohrid in the large museum will mean even greater recognition of the valuable cultural heritage of the Republic of Macedonia.”
In her statement for META, Director of the Institute and Museum in Ohrid Tanja Paskali Buntasheska didn’t provide a precise answer. She simply said: the Golden Mask and golden bracelet are exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Macedonia and museum copies of them were already made!”
