Ukraine considers power cuts

-

Ukraine will be forced to implement additional power cuts if the temperature falls drastically, announced Prime Minister Arsenij Jacenjuk.
Until recently, Ukraine had enough electricity for its needs, but several months of fighting with pro-Russian separatists disrupted the supply of coal of the thermal power plants, which provide 40 percent of Ukrainian electricity.
Ukrainian Ministry of Energy already temporarily stopped the supply of electricity to the Crimea, because the peninsula, which was annexed by Russia, didn’t met the requirements to reduce power consumption, addressed to all regions due to lack of electricity. The distribution of power in the meantime has been restored, but the Ministry of Energy warned that any part of Ukraine, including areas under the control of the separatists, will be completely disconnected from the electrical system if consumption is not reduced in accordance with official requirements.
