This year one-third less first graders in the schools of Shtip

-

Three out of four primary schools in Stip demand from the Municipality to allow the existence of classes with less than the legal minimum of 24 pupils. In the subsidiary schools, on the other hand, approval for combining classes is requested.

In Chardaklija there are classes with only seven pupils in the first, second and fifth grade.  In high schools, for the moment, only the high school “Slavco Stojmenski” came forward with such a request, where less than half of the planned pupils have been registered.  The high school planned to enrol 238 pupils, but only 133 were enrolled and that is why they demanded to form seven classes in the first year with 16 students each.

With the significant decline of pupils and the emmigration, each year the Council of the Municipality Shtip faces the same task, approving classes with a smaller number of pupils. It will be the same at its next session.

In one of the larger elementary schools in Shtip, elementary school “Tosho Arsov“, three classes are planned with first graders, with 16 pupils each. In the subsidiary school in the  Makedonka settlement there will be only three first graders and there arel be combined classes – one with 17 students for the fourth and fifth grade.

“Meta” already wrote that at the start of the last school year, 77 pupils left school due to emmigration.

According to information from the Municipality of Shtip, schools planned next year, 2019/2020, to enrol 538 first graders, while 376 or 160 less have been registered so far.
