The total number of people infected with seasonal flu in North Macedonia during the 2020/2021 season so far is 433 people, which is a drop of 73.2% compared to the same period last year and is 86.3% less compared to the typical season curve, announced the Health Ministry.
“The COVID-19 protection measures have contributed to lowering the number of infected and patients with seasonal flu. The vaccination against seasonal flu is the most efficient protection measure from this disease,” said the ministry.
In North Macedonia, including the second week of 2021, 48.406 persons were vaccinated against seasonal flu. Out of these, 37.870 were vaccinated with publicly funded vaccines while 10.536 persons were vaccinated with commercial vaccines.
The largest number of infected were reported in the age group that encompasses the largest part of the population, between 15 and 64 (190 cases).
