The parties can not even agree about any experts to be selected for the SEC

-

The chances of Parliament tomorrow voting in members of the State Election Commission (SEC), created in the style of the political parties signatory to the Przhino Agreement are decreasing, learns “Meta”.

According to our information, the parties can not agree on the names of three experts to serve on the commission. Otherwise, under the contract, today they were going to pick the names of the experts, and tomorrow they were meant to find a parliamentary session and put it to a vote. However, so far, no known names have been chosen.

The parties, however, last Sunday nominated members of the SEC, Violeta Duma, who now is a current member of the SEC, Igor Milev was proposed by SDSM, Silvana Boneva and  Sasho Srcev are also current members of the SEC, VMRO-DPMNE proposed Subhi Jakupi from DUI and from DPA, Bedredin Ibrahimi who are also current members of the highest constituency in the country.

The composition of the SEC has nine members, three nominated by the ruling party, three proposed and supported by the opposition and three members selected from experts.

SEC members are elected by  a two-third majority in Parliament and once the members are chosen they elect their own President and a Vice President of the commission. As a result of the Przhino Agreement, election law amendments provide for the President or the Vice-President to be elected from among the members of the largest non-majority community. Members of the State Election Commission will have a term of five years with the right for re-election.
