A half-empty Parliament discussed whether it can move to electing a Speaker

-

In the half-empty hall due to the absence of the MPs from the Albanian parties, with a small number of MPs from VMRO-DPMNE, and without the presence of Nikola Gruevski or Ali Ahmeti began the constitutive session of Parliament with a delay of one hour.

The discussion continued where it stopped last Thursday – with the insisting of MPs from VMRO-DPMNE that to skip the third item on the session’s agenda to the fourth item goes against the Rules and Regulations of Parliament i.e. the election of a Parliament Speaker.

The session began with accusations on part of MPs from VMRO-DPMNE about the damaging effect of the Albanian platform. MP Ferid Muhic from SDSM’s coalition responded and asked for a constructive debate, and to stop the use of terms such as “crimes and criminals” as well as the “Tirana Platform”, which Veljanoski agreed with him and appealed to MPs to discuss what is on the agenda without any insults.

Independent MP, Pavle Bogoevski asked that the third and the fourth item on the agenda are joined together. He told Veljanoski that he was “an illegal president of the session” since he didn’t accept the proposal from than the necessary 10 MPs for joining the points.
