Last night, before midnight, the Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs and the Legislative Committee concluded the three-day amendment debate on the draft law on the use of languages.
The European Affairs Committee debated three days regarding Besa’s first amendment with which the party proposed to change the title of the law and instead asked for a “draft law on the use of the Albanian language” instead of “a draft law on the use of languages”.
The President of the Commission, Artan Grubi said in a press statement yesterday that he can not limit the length of MPs speeches and dismissed allegations that this is a kind of blockade to prevent a debate over the amendments submitted by Besa, SDSM and VMRO-DPMNE. DUI has said they do not support a change of the text of the law, which is a product of political compromise between the coalition partners.
The Commission passed the bill to Parliament and is expected to be put on the agenda for a plenary session.
