Scenarios on how many Greek MPs will vote when Prespa agreement comes for ratification

-

As the Greek Prime minister is about to finish his trip to United States, scenarios are unfolding whether how many members of the Greek parliament will vote when Prespa agreement will come for ratification.

The vice president of the coalition party, that of Independent Greeks (ANEL),Panayiotis Sgouridis, said today that the lawmakers should have to abide by the party’s official line. Sgouridis said that those who represent ANEL in the parliament, should face an issue of party discipline if they vote otherwise despite the fact that the rules of the Greek parliament say that each lawmaker should vote by his or her conscience.

Panos Kammenos, the leader of ANEL, still expresses the position that he will leave the SYRIZA led government before Prespa agreement reaches Athens.

Greek papers say that there are least two members of ANEL who are planning to vote in favor of the Agreement – Thanasis Papahristopoulos and Elena Kountoura, who Alexis Tsipras has appointed as Minister of Tourism.
