Spasov: Law on freelancers won’t be postponed

-

Law on Contracts for work and copyright agreements won’t be postponed and it will be applied as provided on 1st of January 1, said today the Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Dime Spasov, according to who, the measure is intended to increase social security of citizens.

– As a Government, we cannot let a worker who performs certain tasks to receive a salary, and not pay contributions. We must not allow social insecurity among such workers in Macedonia. Many European countries introduced compulsory social insurance for “freelance workers” and those who work under different types of contracts. This way, their social security will be greater, and they will be eligible for a pension – said Spasov.

According to him, it isn’t true that the official who, for example, would have a copyright agreement or contract work won’t pay social contributions.

– On the contrary, everyone who would have such contracts will pay social contributions. The exception to this measure is specified exactly and explicitly in the law. For all other citizens, on the basis of performance of appointed position, employment or other exceptions are specified in the Law on Social Security – underlined Spasov.
