The Skopje Waterworks and Sewage Public Enterprise “Vodovod i kanalizacija – Skopje” announced it will publish an invitation for pre-qualification of the most favorable bidder for design and construction of a wastewater treatment plant for the city of Skopje.
It is estimated that the wastewater treatment plant at Trubarevo will cost 136 million EUR. With the agreements between the Government and the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), EIB has secured a grant in the amount of 10 million EUR while EBRD a grant in the amount of 1 million EUR.

Concerning the problem with the pollution in the Vardar River with the discharge of wastewater, Meta.mk spoke with Dr. Ljupcho Kostadinovski, a specialist in hygiene and health ecology at the Center for Public Health – Skopje.
