Tsipras’ package awaiting approval from the Parliament

-

Greek Parliament will vote today on a new package of measures and reforms which the government of Alexis Tsipras will submit to European lenders.

It is a matter of set of ideas, reforms and measures with which Greece will request a new loan in the amount of 53.5 billion euros for the next three years, in particular from July 1 to June 30, 2018, which will ensure its financial needs and obligations.

Much of measures show Greek concessions from the red lines, some of them are in line with previous proposals of the head of the Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, but with only slightly longer period for implementation than the one proposed by creditors.

Included are measures to increase portion of the taxes, acceptance of laws to reduce pensions, privatization of the railways, ports, increasing taxes on wealthier layers and the luxury tax, and taxes on businesses.

The red line which remains and is not deleted from the Greek package is a request to start a conversation about restructuring the Greek debt. In its ideas, the government mentioned negotiating lower primary surplus, from 1 to 3 percent of Greek GDP, given the deteriorating situation of the economy.
