Osmani corrected himself on Facebook when he wrote that there shall be a referendum about the name dispute

-

The Vice-Prime Minister for European Affairs, Bujar Osmani has additionally explained on his Facebook page that there won’t be an acceptable solution for the name dispute if there is no referendum after his statement yesterday when during an interview for Alsat TV he said that Macedonia can avoid a referendum regarding this issue.

“In the heat of the debate, I didn’t explain certain things precisely, so let me be more precise. The government has gained enough political support so it can bravely enter in the process of finding a solution to the name dispute. But, that doesn’t mean that the eventual all-acceptable solution would be made without asking the citizens i.e. without a referendum,” said Osmani on his Facebook page.

when asked how does he plan to close the issue with the name dispute and whether that will be a referendum, Osmani said that the local elections were practically a referendum because they have received the citizens’ support.

-At these elections, we announced that we are going to solve the name dispute. The citizens have sent their message – you are brave and you have a clear vision where the state should be led in the forthcoming years – said Osmani.
