The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and North Macedonia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani welcomed the decision that paves the way for Malta to become the next chairman of the OSCE in 2024, which overcame the crisis faced by the organization and represents a significant success for our chairmanship and the future of the OSCE, says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia.

Bujar Osmani, the OSCE Chairman and the Foreign Minister of North Macedonia, tonight met with the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who is on his first visit to North Macedonia.

The focus of the talks were the current international developments, with a special attention to the situation in Ukraine. The FA ministers strongly condemned the Russian military aggression of Ukraine and expressed their firm support for the Ukrainian people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of North Macedonia says.

“As strategic partners and NATO allies, we stand united in support of Ukraine and the defense of the modern democratic values and principles. We strongly condemn the Russian military aggression, which is an attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as a serious threat to international peace and stability,” Osmani said.

The ministers also discussed North Macedonia’s chairmanship of OSCE, highlighting the efforts North Macedonia undertook to overcome the organization’s challenges, as well as the overall support from the United States in that process.

The meeting of Minister Osmani with the Secretary of State Blinken is historical, as it is the first visit of a US Secretary of State to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia.

The US Secretary Blinken’s visit is another confirmation of the new relationship between the two diplomats that began last year, when Osmani and Blinken jointly launched the strategic dialogue between North Macedonia and the United States in Washington, says the Macedonian Foreign Ministry.
