There is no proposal for European mediator to resolve the Macedonian crisis

-

After the speculations made public in recent days that the Commissioner Johannes Hahn could send a special representative of the European Union to help resolve the political crisis, the spokeswoman Maja Kocijanchich for the news agency “Meta” decisively rejects these claims.

– EU resumes to be very strongly engaged with all political leaders in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to resolve the political crisis. We use existing tools of the enlargement policy and process оф facilitation led by MEPs and Commissioner Hahn. There is the focus and support of the European commitment. Mogerini and Hahn are in constant contact with the Member States and other international organizations. There is no proposal to appoint another person to handle the situation in the country – stated for “Meta”, Maja Kocijanchich.

She was unable to confirm whether the Commissioner Hahn comes to Skopje for the leaders meeting, although diplomats say that for sure he will attend the meeting to continue Strasbourg negotiations where, according to some sources, key issues were conceived.

According mediator Ivo Vajgl and opposition leader, the European Union would like to resolve the
Macedonian crisis by early summer, but this information cannot also be confirmed by the offices of Han and Mogerini.

The next Council of Ministers of the EU will be held on 22 June. It is not provided so far for Macedonia to be part of the conclusions, but if the situation tightens, the ministers and even heads of state and government on the summit in late June could decide to put Macedonia on its agenda, which would be a sign that political crisis worsens, inform diplomatic sources in Brussels.
