High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union Federica Mogerini apologized for using the name “Macedonia” instead of “FYROM” during last week’s press conference.
– I always use the term FYROM. Sometimes, especially when you are dealing with crisis 24/7, you make mistakes. I apologize for that. I always adhere to the officially accepted name and, for this, I also spoke to the Greek authorities – said Mogerini.
Greek authorities, MEPs and media last week immediately reacted due to the use of the constitutional name of the Republic of Macedonia, saying it was unacceptable not to use the reference name.
– We appeal to Mogerini to immediately correct the error and to be more cautious in the future when dealing with issues that are sensitive for the entire Greek people and flagrantly violate historical truth – emphasized Manolis Kefaloyiannis in his reaction to Mogerini.
