Macedonia and the Przhino Agreement on the Brussels Agenda

Macedonia and the Przhino political agreement will be the subject of regular Council of Ministers meeting by chief EU diplomats, today in Brussels. EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, Johannes Hahn, will submit a report about the Agreement to the EU’s High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini. The report will be also presented to member-state’s foreign relations ministers.

Later in the afternoon will take place the twelfth Council for Stabilization and Association Agreement between Macedonia and the EU, chaired by the head of Slovak diplomacy, Miroslav Lajcak. The Macedonian delegation is led by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Fatmir Besimi, Foreign Minister Nikola Popovski and the Secretary of the Macedonian Secretariat for European Affairs, Ana Blazevska.

According to announcements, prior to the meeting Mr. Besimi and Mr. Popovski will meet with Miss. Mogherini and Mr. Hahn and following the Council, the Macedonian representatives will attend a press conference with Mr. Hahn and Lajcak.

In 2004 Macedonia signed the Agreement for Stabilization and Association which represents a foundation for EU-Macedonia relations. In 2005, the country was given a Candidate status for membership to the EU.
