Talks for implementing the political agreement have begun

-

The talks for implementing the agreement aimed at overcoming the political crisis have begun. The agreement was reached last week by leaders of the four biggest political parties in Macedonia and was mediated by the European Commissioner for union Enlargement.

Today’s meeting will be dedicated to matters concerning the scheduled early elections, which according to the deal should take place on April 24 next year.

The first point of order is the State Electoral Commission whose system needs to undergo an overhaul until the end of July. According to the deal, the Electoral Commission should be formed by non-partisan members. Peter Van Hobbit, an expert on the topic from Belgium, will aide towards accomplishing that goal.
