LDP: Ivanov should declare whether he will use the right to pardon

-

After yesterday’s scandalous decision from the Constitutional Court, the annulment of the Law on Amnesty since 2009, the court has placed itself in the direct service of high-ranking suspects of the VMRO-DPMNE party, say the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

“The decision, unknown in Constitutional law or in the functioning of the Constitutional Court, is a result of the independent and professional work of the Special Public Prosecution. The next in line is the formal President Ǵorge Ivanov, whose legitimacy is equally as controversial, as well as that of the parties in power. Now, the Law Professor from the Law Faculty has to decide whether he will be the direct and last accomplice in the downfall of the Macedonian legal system and constitutional order, or will he act logically, and in accordance with the law and justice system? He should be aware that by using that ‘right’ derived from the occupied and scandalous court, which is meant to protect the law and order of the state, that with that knowledge, he is becoming part of criminal organization where he will bear the responsibility for the downfall of the constitutional order”, say the LDP.

The LDP calls on Ivanov to publicly state whether he is prepared to pardon those suspected of committing the most difficult types of crime. If he does not declare his intentions publicly, the LDP say they will ask for initiate proceedings to have the Presidents mandate taken from him and organize a referendum on whether President Ivanov should withdraw from office.
