During today’s 95th session, the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia adopted a decision for declaring a 30-day nationwide state of emergency, informed government’s press service.
The decision for declaring a state of emergency nationwide due to the wildfires and the necessity to prevent their spreading during a period of 30 days was adopted due to the need for rational use of national resources and coordinated action of all concerned institutions.
Regarding the decision, the President of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Parliament will be notified.
In order to operationalise the decision, the government adopted a conclusion to propose the President of the country to adopt a decision for participation of part of the army in dealing with the emergency. The government also ordered the Main headquarters at the Crisis Management Center (CMC) to start immediately with the preparation of an action plan for prevention and management of wildfires, including a complete survey of all available human and material-technical resources and a plan for coordinated actions.
The Government adopted a conclusion that the Interior Ministry, the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Crisis Management Center, the Directораte for Protection and Rescue, and the Health Ministry with all concerned state institutions, including the units of local self-government in North Macedonia, to put at disposal allthe available capacities and resources that can be put into use for the managing the state of crisis.
At the same time, the executive power will task the Crisis Management Center to select a person for public relations that will inform the general public on a daily basis about the prevention and management of fires on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia.
