End of the Greek drama: Athens and the creditors reached an agreement

-

Eurozone leaders reached an agreement on financial assistance to Greece, which for five months was trying to find a compromise with creditors.

President of the European Council Donald Tusk via “Twitter” announced that agreement with Greece has been reached “unanimously”.

“Everything is ready for the European stability mechanism to provide financial assistance to Greece in exchange for serious reform,” Tusk wrote.

He said that a special fund for the repayment of Greek debt will be set up.

“Finance ministers will urgently discuss how to help Greece in the short term to meet its financial needs,” wrote Tusk.

President of Eurogroup Jeroen Dijsselbloem today said that Greek banks require 25 billion euros to recapitalize.

French President Francois Hollande said the agreement would help the Greece to remain in the Eurozone if it follows the rules imposed by the EU.

– We made a good step to build confidence, but there are many steps that need to be made to implement what has been achieved – said the director of IMF Christine Lagarde.
