Tsipras: The agreement is hard, but the worst case scenario for Greece was avoided

-

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras returns to Greece with a commitment the Greek Parliament to vote on the whole list conditions and priority actions agreed at the 17 hours of negotiations on a new Greek assistance in Brussels until Wednesday.

Plan B for Greece’s exclusion from the Eurozone is avoided, but for Greece to proceed to negotiations and the payment of the new aid, and restoring confidence in it, it will be necessary to submit fully passed and approved priority measures to the Eurogroup until Wednesday.

As Chancellor Angela Merkel announced, the Greek Parliament must urgently vote on measures and reforms as approval for changes in the tax system and the change in VAT reform in the pension system, strengthening the independence of the Greek Statistical Service, as well as reforms in public administration, until Wednesday.

After 17 hours of negotiations, Greek PM Alexis Tsipras admitted that the agreement is hard, but that the worst case scenario for Greece was avoided and the financial support for the country is guaranteed. He expressed optimism that the agreement will help the country to return to its feet, come back on track for economic development, again become attractive for investments and, above all, to unload poorer citizens from the financial burden and redistribute it equally to everyone, including those groups that have so far avoided obligations.

“This is an agreement whose implementation will be difficult. The measures are those passed in the Parliament. I feel and hope that the development package of 35 measures, debt restructuring and financial aid will create a feeling on the market that Grexit is in the past and this can create a wave of investments,” said Tsipras.
